“Shoot for the moon, and you will always land among the stars.”
You have probably heard this positive coaching quote before. But who is the person behind these words? These words are from Norman Vincent Peale, an author best known for popularizing the concept of positive thinking, especially through his best-selling book The Power of Positive Thinking (1952). Peale (May 31, 1898 – December 24, 1993) was a Protestant clergyman who wrote that positive thinking needs to be practiced.
Here are some more inspirational words by Peale:
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy. But with self-confidence you can succeed. A sense of inferiority and inadequacy interferes with the attainment of your hopes, but self-confidence leads to self-realization and successful achievement.”
“One of the greatest moments in anybody’s developing experience is when he no longer tries to hide from himself but determines to get acquainted with himself as he really is.”
How does one practice positive thinking?
Two major ways to practice positive thinking is via positive Self-Talk and Visualizations. Be open to humor, too!
